Site
- Coal production: 3.5 million metric tons/year.
- Area: 10 km².
Requirements
Continuous transmission of movement, task and payload data from mobile equipment to the Karier automated dispatch system.
Technical solution
- 10 Ruckus Wireless T350SE Wi‑Fi 6 base stations supporting a Mesh network that covers the entire open-pit mine without dead zones. We used external omnidirectional antennas with 6–9 dBi gain, enabling access points to communicate over distances of up to 2 km in the 5 GHz band.
- TFortis switching enclosures with PoE 802.3at support power access points and wireless bridges. Some network nodes operate independently using solar power systems, while integrated batteries maintain equipment operation during power interruptions.
- 50 MOXA 1131A-EU-T mobile terminals with HUBER+SUHNER antennas and the proprietary Turbo Roaming feature (fast switching between base stations, with a handover time of 90 ms). The equipment successfully transmits data within 2 km of a base station.
- Wireless bridges based on InfiNet PtP for high-speed data transmission between different parts of the facility.
Connectum’s scope of work
- Wireless network design.
- Equipment supply with turbo roaming (low deployment costs and flexible coverage adjustments, particularly important as the mine layout changes).
- Integration with the Karier dispatch system.

Results
