Modernizing infrastructure under sanctions is challenging. Businesses need to adapt their equipment and operating plans.
Connectum is a provider of wireless solutions and IT services.
Here are six ways to manage costs while maintaining reliable Wi‑Fi for a hotel, office, café, or public venue.
1. Conduct a Wi‑Fi site survey
Without quality planning, the risks are great: “dead zones”, frequency interference, dissatisfied users and constant calls to technical support.
The solution is: The site survey. We use special software, test access points, build a “heat map” of the coverage. This allows you to identify possible problems in advance and avoid budget overruns
2. Calculate the optimal number of access points
Changing equipment brands requires a new assessment of access point counts. A Ruckus coverage design cannot be transferred directly to TP-Link.
According to experience, TP-Link requires more points than other brands, as the manufacturer strictly adheres to legislative restrictions:
– Maximum power 2.4 GHz – 20 dBm (100 mW)
– Maximum power 5 GHz – 23 dBm (200 mW)
3. Use access points with different capacities
Loads vary by area: hotel rooms may serve 2–5 users, a lobby up to 50, and a restaurant up to 500.
Solution for TP-Link Omada:
— Guest rooms: the basic EAP 610 model
— High client density: the higher-capacity EAP 620 HD
4. Connect 2 hardware controllers
If the controller fails, the network remains active, but it cannot be administered.
In the line of Omada TP-Link we use two OC200. However, automatic backup (Active/Standby) is not yet available, so when a failure occurs, switching is performed manually.
The solution is:
– Duplicate the configuration (backup on a flash drive or server)
— For remote control, open port 443 in the cloud Omada
5. Schedule access point power optimization
Wi‑Fi may briefly disappear while access points scan the RF environment. Across 30 access points, the average interruption can last up to 5 minutes.
The solution is:
Plan power adaptation at night when the network is less busy.
6. Monitor the network and plan upgrades
Check coverage and performance regularly, and increase capacity before users experience lower speeds.
High-quality Wi‑Fi is one that is not noticed
When the wireless network is stable, users simply do not think about it. These are the networks we design and support in Connectum.
